The Indian rupee is the official currency Republic of India. The Indian currency is controlled by the Reserve Bank of India that also derives its role in currency management on the basis of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

The Indian rupee (₹)  is the currency symbol Of the Indian rupee that is the official currency symbol of India. Designed by Udaya Kumar and it was presented to the public by the Government of India on 15 July 2010.  The new rupee symbol started in circulation on 8 July 2011.
