AI: Is It a Curse or a Boon? Navigating the New Tech Revolution

The Cycle of Fear: History Repeats Itself

Whenever a big new technology arrives, it usually starts with a lot of fear. History shows us that we’ve been here before.

Think back to the invention of the car:

  • The Horse-Cart Conflict: When cars first hit the road, people who drove horse-drawn carts thought it was the end of the world. They were terrified of losing their livelihoods.
  • A New Economy: While the old jobs vanished, a massive new world of mechanics, part manufacturers, and oil industries was born. We are in a similar "transition era" with AI right now.

Is AI a Curse?

It is important to acknowledge the real challenges we face in the short term:

  • Job Displacement: The next few years could be very difficult for many people as industries shift and old roles disappear.
  • Trust Issues: With deepfakes on the rise, it’s getting harder to trust what we see on our screens without physical proof.
  • Human Lethargy: There is a risk that relying too much on AI could make us less creative or even a bit lazy.

Is AI a Boon?

On the flip side, the potential for growth is staggering. AI isn't just a tool; it's a partner that works 24/7 without needing a break.

Superhuman Productivity: AI can complete tasks that would take a human 10 hours in just seconds. It can speed up research and development by up to 10,000 times.

Looking Toward 2025 and Beyond

Just like the smartphone evolved from a bulky luxury to a daily necessity over 20 years, AI is becoming part of our daily lives.

The key isn't to fight the change but to adapt to it. By setting clear rules and learning how to work alongside these tools, we can ensure AI becomes a product that helps everyone rather than just a few.

"We must adapt and create rules to ensure AI is a boon for all of society."
